Uganda Elephant (Elephant Bean) coffee, an exceptionally rare grade, features the largest oversized arabica beans, exceeding screen 18/64 inches (~7 mm), sourced from SL14, SL28, and Bugisu varietals grown at 1,200-2,000m in volcanic regions like Mount Elgon and Rwenzori. These scarce, Maragogipe-like mutants make up a tiny harvest fraction. Washed processing—depulping, 12-36 hour fermentation, and sun-drying—ensures a clean, bold cup. Expect vibrant acidity with notes of citrus, blackberry, and chocolate, a heavy, syrupy body, and a sweet, lingering finish. Scoring 85+ SCA, Uganda Elephant is prized for pour-over or espresso, embodying East Africa’s most exclusive coffee heritage.
